What do people like about Los Angeles? Beach, beach, beach!

The weather is getting nicer these days and it’s time to go to the beach!  I used to be afraid of getting tanned so that I avoided any beach activities.  Last summer my intern company was 15 minutes away from Hermosa Beach and I hanged out with interns at the beach on Friday afternoon.  It actually felt good to chill a bit and enjoy the sunshine.

A few weeks ago I went to Malibu Beach with friends and it was windy that day.  But when I saw the beach I couldn’t help but taking off my shoes and lied down at the beach.  With the sun and the wind, I felt so comfy and almost felt asleep.

This weekend I went to Manhattan Beach with another group of friends.  When we arrived and saw the cute shops and the ocean glittering with the sunlight, we both said “oh my God, this is so beautiful!  The beach is just awesome!”  Though I’m still concerned about getting tanned even if I’m already tanned after all these days in LA, I just couldn’t resist the beach.  We sunbathed at the beach, chased the water and played beach volleyball.  After that we strolled around that area and enjoyed Jumba Juice smoothies.  This city, no wonder I love you!

If I can stay here longer, I plan to buy a director chair and read US weekly at the beach, while my friend promised that she would get a big umbrella for us.

The only shortcoming is that I got very very tanned, and will not be able to survive in the “white-is-the-synonymous-of-beauty” Taiwanese society.  My mom said that we do not have a dark skin gene so my skin should be able to whiten if I keep myself away from the sun for a while.  Well, I guess I give up that thought!

Where’s my next stop at the beach?
