My sense of direction is missing these days, either in life or on road.

I started off from Crazy Fish on Olympics and Doheny, turned right, passed by two shining buildings, thought I headed east, turned left, hit Pico, kept going, and figured out I got lost in a residential area. A car was ahead of me, so I followed it, thinking that it’d eventually lead me to Wilshire Blvd.

The car suddenly accelerated, forcing me to go faster to stick to it. It reminded me of a joke I heard long time ago. The car ahead might see me from the rear mirror, taking me as a strange stalker and then driving faster to run away from me. To follow him, I thus had to drive even faster. So it becomes a vicious circle that two cars never find a way out. My friend Damou and I giggled in the car when talking about this old joke.

Meanwhile, I was running out of gas. So without any choices, we asked a bald guy walking two big black dogs for direction. Finally we hit Wilshire again and I realized my first direction was actually correct…how can I be such an idiot….

The same thing happened to me a lot in the past few days. I detoured frequently and both my friend and I wasted tons of time in car. I used to be so proud of being the minorities without GPS in LA. What’s worse is the big map book I had in car was missing a few pages, so I had to rely on myself to look for the direction. I couldn’t even find the BCD tofu house on Wilshire. What a fool!

Maybe it’s because I daydream too much recently. It’s time to get myself back to the right direction.
