Though I said it’s hard for me to keep a weekly blog, I didn’t wanna do anything tonight so here I am – writing the blog again! It’s all because I finally finished my write-up this “morning,” about three…anyway, I still feel energetic today. Amazing!
Last quarter I went with a group of friends to “Breadbar” in Beverly Hills. It’s a small, cozy place, not a big fancy restaurant. But I love its relaxing ambience. On top of that, the food is great! It’s probably the best bread I’ve had in LA so far. When Julie visited me in LA, I took her to Breadbar and had “tour of France sandwich again. The meal size is huge for girls so it’s great to share one sandwich and a dessert with your female friend. Last week I found that it opened a new store in Century City mall, which is even closer to where I live. The decoration is a bit different from the original one. Though I like the one in Beverly Hills better, the food in this new opening is still awesome. We ordered two types of croissants, plain and raisin. What’s even more surprising is – we got it for free! The restaurant was about to close for the day (9pm) so they just gave bread away for free. The truth is even if I have to pay a dollar and half for the raisin croissant, it’s still worth it. But free food...who doesn’t like it?
I watched the latest film "Babel" by actors from different countries, including Brad Pitt, after enjoying the bread. This film talks about how people struggle with communicating with others in different languages. The mal-communication causes many unnecessary problems, which reflects what’s going on in my life as well. Language barrier is still a big problem for me, in school, in life, and in everything. The story in the movie was, however, very unexpected and surprised me in many different ways. Overall it’s not my favorite movie, but it’s not a bad choice if you are tired of regular Hollywood movies.
